Birth preparation isn't about learning the “right” way to give birth.
It's about understanding how birth works, knowing the options that may be available to you, and having the information you need to ask questions and participate in the decisions surrounding your care.
In this six-class childbirth education course, we'll explore the physiology of birth alongside the many ways medicine, interventions, comfort measures, and individual circumstances can become part of the experience.
We'll also prepare beyond the birth itself, making room for the first hours with your baby and the transition into postpartum.
Knowledge doesn’t give you control over the experience. It gives you a voice within it.
There is no shortage of information about birth. What matters is having information you can understand, connect, and actually use.
I created this course because I couldn't find the one I wanted to teach — one that explained not only what can happen during birth, but why, and made room for physiology, medicine, interventions, and informed decision-making without telling you there is one right way to give birth.
It's designed with meaningful preparation for birth in a hospital, birth center, or at home, because where you give birth can shape the options, resources, and conversations around you.
And it was created by a doula.
That means you’ll learn the foundations, but you’ll also get the practical knowledge that comes from years spent supporting families through labor and birth — the comfort measures, adaptations, questions, little tricks, and doula nuggets that don’t always make it into a textbook.
The goal isn’t to prepare you for one version of birth.
It’s to help you understand what you’re walking into — and stay part of the experience as it unfolds.
Across six classes, we’ll move from preparing for birth through labor, birth, the first hours with your baby, and the transition into postpartum and parenthood.
Explore your priorities, birth environment, support team, and the physical and emotional preparation that can help you approach birth with greater understanding and flexibility.
Learn how labor begins and progresses, what may be happening in your body and with your baby along the way, and how to recognize and navigate the different stages of labor as the experience unfolds.
Explore the sensation of pain and different ways to approach and work with it during labor. Learn practical comfort measures, movement, positioning, breathing, relaxation, and hands-on techniques you and your support person can use and adapt as labor changes.
Learn about pain relief, common medical interventions, induction, Cesarean birth, and other ways birth may unfold — including why different options may be recommended and how to ask questions and participate in decisions along the way.
Understand the Golden Hour, your baby's first feeding, common newborn care and procedures, and what to expect as your body begins recovering after birth.
Explore physical and emotional recovery, identity and relationship changes, postpartum mental health, and how to recognize when you or someone you love may need additional support.
The course includes a Student Manual + Toolkit with practical tools, reference guides, and resources you can return to throughout your preparation — and when you need them later.
The same comprehensive six-class curriculum is available in two formats, depending on how you’d prefer to learn.
